The Three Pillars
Acrylic, sand, and mixed media on 12x12 canvas. Frame not included.
Artist’s statement:
“Three pillars are significant in certain religions, faiths, and concepts, such as the concept of 3s. In Christianity, for example, Peter denied Jesus three times, and Jesus affirmed his love three times. Also, in Christianity, the three pillars are faith, hope, and love. The Holy Trinity is also represented in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and in the omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence of God. In Buddhism, there are three basic elements: faith, practice, and study.
The three pillars of sustainability focus on three areas—social equity, economic development, and environmental preservation.
The three pillars also represent the concrete significance of the three life stages: birth, life, and death and past, present, and future.”
